Why visit?

The Eastern Bhutan is the far fewer tourists than the western regions. But there is reason enough to visit! The intrepid visitors will be rewarded with its lands cape, Dzongs and the local cultures. The areas are lush, bird-field monsoon forests. Even though it is the most densely populated region, the rugged east remains the Kingdom’s hinterland. Road reach the major towns but most of the population live in remote settlements; secreted high above the road or in isolated valleys, some are home to, minority ethnic groups comprising less than 1000 people.
Eastern Bhutan is separated from the rest of the country by a chain of extremely rugged and steep hills that runs from the Tibetan border almost all the way down to the Indian border. The road from Bumthang (center Bhutan) crosses these hills over Thrumshing la pass 3750m Bhutan’s second highest motor road pass. Now new domestic Airport built at Trashigang in the east and Gelephu in the south center will provide easier access to eastern and southern Bhutan and facilitate increased tourists in those regions.
